she looked so cozy with her mustard scarf, adorable pooch, mod jacket and maroon trousers we really couldn't resist. we have to admit, her lovely vintage brogues were the first thing to catch our eye.

the dynamic duo that is 'FLOC' lauren rassel & dexter simmons combine the arts of fashion design, styling, & makeup to produce their own multi-faceted yet coherent look. their stylist and design work for SF-based band von iva brought them to the de young friday evening, for the electro-band's noisepop-sponsored show. they even design and make their own spats!

discarded to divine

discarded to divine gathers various designers (students & established) to rework/reconstruct clothes which would have been otherwise put out to pasture in a dumpster or a thrift store. these unique creations will be auctioned off at the end of april, for the benefit of the worthy st. vincent de paul society, who assist the less fortunate and homeless members of the community.

sweetest candy

this trio was too sweet not to snap. we particularly like the fluffy green wooly on the left, and the contrast with the electric pink tights, the pink swoosh of nikes in the middle, and the pussy bow blouse and pinafore on the right. the peace signs are a bonus.

savvy fruits

savvy's first fruits! their style is familiar to those of us who flip through 'fruits' frequently. what is interesting about both outfits is that they could also be fashioned in camden, london, the haight in san francisco, etc. such is the state of international trends these days.  however no one seems to be able to pull the overall 'look' quite like the kids of harajuku.

smooth sailing in harajuku

sighted: harajuku, tokyo, december 07. too smooth for school, he's cruising in fantastic shoes, has a nice break in his jeans, touch of cuff showing, a nicely detailed jacket, clever cap and nice frames.

the blue leather mary quant coat was the first thing to catch our eye, and then our delightful subject unveiled her graphically pleasing dress and the ensemble reached another level of style.

le tigre

sighted: ihop (international house of pancakes), shaw ave., fresno, california, 1:30 a.m. saturday 29 september 2007.

we've never seen this kind of super stylin' in fresno before, let alone at ihop in the wee hours of a weekend morning. his eclectic mix of colors and prints (a noted trend for runway fashionistas this season) do not overwhelm because of his expertly chosen 'base' of denim and white. he styled his nike's himself, and rather expertly we might add. he made us smile when he unveiled those jazzy 'tigger'-like stripes on his ankles. thank goodness we had a midnight pancake craving.

graphic hoodie

sighted: the starline, tower district, fresno, california, saturday 29 september 2007, midnight.

the variety of stripes, dash of yellow, and houndstooth caught our eye, making us slightly dizzy, but in a very cool way. you can hear mr. graphic hoodie drumming for the fantastic san francisco band love like fire on their website or myspace. enjoy.

the poet aka 'the smirk' (with new rave accents)

sighted: corner of balbo & wabash ave., chicago, tuesday 11 september 2007, 6 p.m.

favorite poets: ginsberg and li young lee (to name a few). sneaks: nike. recent vinyl purchases include: roxy music, depeche mode, to name but a few.

this budding poet and film artist caught our eye with his snazzy sneaks and fluoro accents. next time savvy hits chicago we'll be sure to photograph the crowd with his tree house party kids and dark wave disco.

stunning scribbly print on the vintage dress, lovely shoes, and fabulous smile. all hail.

ghost town pianist

sighted: july 2007, fillmore & geary, san francisco, 6:30 p.m., prior to the smashing pumpkins show at the fillmore.

the pink, the military coat, those shades, all quite unusual for the san francisco bay area style front. this savvy subject rocks out as ghost town piano, so check him it out.

swim cap superhero

she reminded us of a superhero who has to wear a hot pink fluorescent swimming cap to use her special powers.
